Shaved Ice – March 21

Hello, everyone.  Spring is here and it’s getting harder to sit inside all day.  Staffer Brian Kalisher here to bring you up to speed on hockey’s latest.

Quick hits

The Wings have been off since Monday when they dropped a 5-3 decision to Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.  They hit the ice again tonight to take on the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

College hockey is the talk of the town in these parts as four schools will represent the Mitten in the upcoming NCAA tournament starting Friday.  Michigan State, Michigan, Western Michigan and Ferris State all look to make it to the Frozen Four.

The last batch of state title coverage ended this past weekend and will be coming your way shortly.  Check out some of the games we’ve already covered.

Highlight reel

Take a look at WMU’s post-game presser after their CCHA title win.

Outside the Mitten

The Pittsburgh Penguins dominated the Winnipeg Jets last night, earning the 8-4 victory.  Among the scorers, former Whaler James Neal posted a hat trick, making him Michi-gamer of the night.

It’s been confirmed that Alexander Radulov will rejoin the Predators.  This means the Central Division just got a bit trickier, especially when the Wings have a good shot at playing them in the first round.
