Shaved Ice – Feb. 8

My apologies for the delay in the Shaved Ice blog – got a little caught up in all the news about the press conferences tomorrow…

Quick hits

As reported by our friends at the Michigan Daily, the NHL will be renting Michigan Stadium for the 2013 Winter Classic. Clearly I don’t need to tell you what is implied with that news. Tomorrow there will be press conferences at both Comerica Park and the Big House to announce what is sure to be a wild, wild time in Hockeytown for outdoor hockey. I can’t wait.

Here’s a summary of the events from TSN.

Highlight reel

Mock Rock at the University of Michigan had a little bit of hockey in it. Check it out…

Outside the Mitten

Congrats to James Neal, who was named our Michi-gamer of the night again this morning. I guess you could say he’s having a decent season with the Penguins.

Bob McKenzie says that Nail Yakupov is still the clear No. 1 pick in the upcoming NHL draft. Jacob Trouba is at No. 6 on TSN’s rankings.

Owen Nolan has announced his retirement after 18 NHL seasons.

We’ve added events to our official Warrior Hockey Day in Michigan page – check them out here.
