With the play of Joey MacDonald and the return of Jimmy Howard, the Wings had to make room between the pipes, which means that Ty Conklin has been put on waivers. If nobody claims him by noon today, he will be sent to Grand Rapids.

Who took advantage of Presidents Day to get a little extra hockey in? Darren Eliot did, helping out with some clinics across the street.

Ferris State holds onto the top spot in both the USCHO and USA Today polls.

A.J. Treais was named offensive player of the week by the CCHA, while teammate Lee Moffie took home the top defenseman honor. Spartans forward Tanner Sorenson was named rookie of the week.

The Wings have the top spot in the NHL.com power rankings. Shouldn’t really be that surprising, but still…
