Shaved Ice – Nov. 1

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a fantastic Halloween.

Quick hits

It’s not surprising to see people wear Halloween costumes to work. However, it is a little unsettling when you see a referee doing so. Last night, former pro player Cal McGowan was wearing the stripes…while wearing a wig and make-up. The assistant manager at Suburban Ice Farmington Hills wore the frightening look proudly throughout the entire day – culminating with him refereeing the adult league games with a face that would keep most from taking a cheap slashing penalty. Here’s the photo we posted on Facebook yesterday when we first saw him scaring people at the front desk.

Got his Halloween costume topped? We want to see it and feature it on our website or on our social media pages. Send it over to me at mcaples@mihockeynow.com.

The Wings were making headlines yesterday, and it wasn’t for their Halloween costumes. Here’s my recap of Gustav Nyquist’s promotion to Detroit, and Niklas Kronwall’s new seven-year deal.
