Griffins take commanding 3-1 series lead with Game 4 win
By @MichaelCaples –
One game away.
With a 3-2 victory tonight in Game 4 of the AHL Final vs. the Syracuse Crunch, the Grand Rapids Griffins now hold a commanding 3-1 series lead.
Game 5 will take place Saturday night in Syracuse; if the Crunch force a Game 6, that would be back in Grand Rapids on Tuesday.
The victory snaps Syracuse’s 10-game win streak at their home building.
Dan Renouf scored twice for the Griffins in the win, the latter turning into the game-winner after Syracuse tried to mount a comeback. Grand Rapids had scored three unanswered to assume control of the contest; Ben Street kicked off the goal-scoring exactly 10 minutes into the first period.
Renouf’s first came in at the 17:48 mark of the first period, while his second came just over the halfway mark of the second.
Jared Coreau stopped 31 saves in the win.
