The Hockeytown faithful weren’t the only people taking notice of Gustav Nyquist’s impressive week.

The Red Wings forward was named the NHL’s second star of the week today, after he recorded four goals and two assists last week.

Nyquist scored in all four games the Wings played last week, helping them pick up five out of a possible eight points and move into the second Wild Card spot in the East. After scoring Detroit’s lone goal in a 4-1 loss to St. Louis in Jan. 20, Nyquist proceeded to record a goal and an assist in both wins over Chicago and Montreal, then another goal in the 5-4 shootout loss to Florida last night.

The 24-year-old forward has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 27 games this season, including seven points and a +4 rating during his now five-game point streak.
