Recruiting: Ty Gallagher commits to Miami

Ty Gallagher says he’s heard there’s nothing better than college athletics.

He’s going to have a chance to experience all that it has to offer soon.

The Clarkston native has announced his verbal commitment to the Miami RedHawks.

“I picked Miami because of the outstanding education and the great hockey program,” he told MiHockey. “When I visited, the campus it was amazing. The hockey facility is great and so are the coaches.”

The Compuware 16U defenseman joins teammate Red Savage in pledging his commitment to Miami. In total, the defending 14U national champions currently have five NCAA D1 verbal commits on their roster.

Gallagher, a 2003 birth-year blueliner, was one of a select few invited to the 2018 USA Hockey Select 15 Camp last July.

“I am excited to play college hockey because I have heard there is nothing better than college athletics,” Gallagher said, “also, to get a good education along with developing my game.”
