Patrick Khodorenko had a big weekend for the Spartans, and the Big Ten conference recognized his efforts Tuesday.

The Michigan State senior forward has been named the B1G first star of the week after a four-point weekend at No. 6 Penn State Friday and Saturday.

Khodorenko, a Walnut Creek, Calif., native who moved to Michigan to play for HoneyBaked in bantams, scored the game-winner for MSU in their Friday night 2-0 victory to start the series with an upset.

In Saturday’s finale, the USA Hockey National Team Development Program alum scored twice and added an assist as the Spartans nearly tied the game before falling 6-4.

It’s the second time he has been named the B1G first star of the week, accomplishing the feat on Nov. 6, 2018, as well.
