Michigan State’s Lethemon named B1G first star of the week

By @StefanKubus –

After a massive weekend for the Spartans against their rivals from Ann Arbor, the netminder has earned Big Ten recognition.

John Lethemon backstopped MSU to a sweep over the University of Michigan, first in a 4-3 win on Thursday in Ann Arbor and he followed it up with a 35-save shutout in East Lansing on Saturday. That gave the Northville native a sparkling .960 save percentage and 1.50 goals-against average on the weekend.

For Lethemon, a senior and two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, this marks his first career Big Ten weekly award.

On the season, Lethemon carries a 5-2-0 record, .936 save percentage and 2.31 goals-against average.
