PHOTOS: Spartans open 2019-2020 with exhibition win over Western Ontario

The Michigan State Spartans played their first game of the 2019-2020 season Monday evening, recording a 6-1 victory over Western Ontario in an exhibition contest inside a under-construction Munn Ice Arena. Tommy Apap, Nico Muller, Mitch Lewandowski, Cole Krygier, Christian Krygier and Logan Lambdin all scored for MSU in the season-opening win, while John Lethemon and Drew DeRidder combined for 21 saves between the pipes. Michigan State opens NCAA play on the road this weekend, taking on Northern Michigan in a Friday/Saturday set in Marquette before returning home for a game against the USA Hockey National Team Development Program on Oct. 18.
