2019 USHL Fall Classic to feature 16 Michigan youth teams
By @MichaelCaples –
The USHL is once again hosting its Fall Classic season kick-off event in Pittsburgh, and for the fourth straight September, they are inviting youth teams to take part.
Between the 14U, 15O, 16U and 18U age groups, 16 different Michigan youth teams will have the opportunity to compete in a showcase that brings with it a great deal of scouting and exposure. The 16 teams is a new high mark for Michigan participation in the event.
The USHL Fall Classic serves as the kick-off for the Tier 1 junior league; the Muskegon Lumberjacks will play in the first game of the 2019 edition against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. All USHL teams play two games at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, with the youth showcase running alongside.
“The scouting presence at the Fall Classic has grown over the years and we expect the trend to continue this year with so much talent in one place at one time,” said USHL Deputy Commissioner Denny Scanlon in a release. “Last season, more than 300 scouts were in attendance and we expect that number to continue to grow at this season’s event. This has become a very valuable date on the calendar for scouts at all levels as it features the best talent each age group has to offer.”
Here are the Michigan teams slated to participate in this year’s USHL Fall Classic, which runs from Sept. 26-29.
