Six Michigan natives to compete in IIHF Junior Club World Cup with NAHL squad

The NAHL has announced its roster for the upcoming 2019 Sirius Junior Club World Cup, and there’s a substantial Michigan flavor to it.

Six Michigan natives have been selected to compete in the annual IIHF tournament, which features world-class junior hockey clubs all competing at the home of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, from Aug. 23-31.

Teams from Finland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Russia, Canada, Sweden and Switzerland will all be competing.

The NAHL squad is made of one player from each of the 24 teams that competed in the 2018-19 season.

Here are the Michigan names:

Chris Trouba – Johnstown Tomahawks – Auburn Hills

Sam Skinner – Minot Minotauros – Schoolcraft

Austin McCarthy – Topeka Pilots – Ludington

Jake Beaune – Aberdeen Wings – Livonia

Nick Trela – Amarillo Bulls – Trenton

Gabe Temple – Wilkes Barre/Scranton Knights – Fowlerville – Michigan Tech commit

Billy Feczko – Shreveport Mudbugs – Little Caesars/Victory Honda alum

Jack Williams – Springfield Jr. Blues – Michigan State commit
