The Spartans have secured a commitment from a talented young forward.

Royal Oak native Max Namestnikov has announced his verbal pledge to Michigan State.

“I chose MSU because they have an amazing campus and an outstanding coaching staff,” Namestnikov told MiHockey. “I also chose the Spartans because East Lansing is very close to home so I can see and visit my family.”

The younger brother of New York Rangers forward and first-round draft pick Vlad Namestnikov, Max is one of the top forwards in the deep 2004 birth-year class in Michigan.

Namestnikov suited up for Compuware 14U this season after spending the majority of his youth days with Honeybaked.
