Muskegon Lumberjacks advance to USHL’s Eastern Conference Final

By @MichaelCaples –

With a victory tonight in Dubuque, the Muskegon Lumberjacks are moving on in the USHL playoffs.

A 2-1 win over the Fighting Saints in Game 4 Wednesday evening was the series clinching win for the Jacks, who will now advance to the Eastern Conference Final.

After winning both of their home games by a combined score of 9-1 over Easter weekend, the Jacks fell in their first try to eliminate the Fighting Saints, dropping a 5-1 contest Tuesday.

On their second try, the Jacks made sure there wouldn’t be another game in the series in Muskegon, wrapping things up with a first-period goal from Dearborn native Jagger Joshua and a second-period strike from Ryan Savage.

From there, Western Michigan commit Brandon Bussi limited the Fighting Saints to a single goal, as the Muskegon netminder stopped 20 of the 21 shots sent his way.

The Lumberjacks will take on the Chicago Steel in the USHL’s third round, as Chicago wrapped up their series tonight, as well. Game 1 will be at LC Walker Arena in Muskegon on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
