Saginaw Heritage tops Bay Reps in second D1 state semifinal (with photos)

PLYMOUTH – The last semifinal of the 2019 MHSAA state playoffs goes to Saginaw Heritage.

The Hawks scored five goals in the first periods to coast to a 5-2 victory over the Traverse City Bay Reps Friday evening at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth to secure a spot in the Division 1 state championship game.

There, they will take on Detroit Catholic Central in a battle of state supremacy at the D1 level.

Parker Severson, Will Schmidt, Brady Rappuhn, Matte Cole and Edison Symons all scored for Heritage, while Jack Jesko stopped 19 of the 21 shots sent his way in goal.

Kamerin Lannen stopped 28 in the loss for the Bay Reps; Logan Kerry and Jonathan Adams took care of the scoring.
