There will be new awards presented during this year’s 2019 MHSAA Boys’ Ice Hockey Tournament.

All-Tournament Teams and Most Valuable Players will be selected by members of the media for each of the three divisions, offering high school hockey an opportunity to recognize the top performers during the state playoffs.

The MVP awards will be named after three iconic high school hockey coaches, as well.

  • The Division 1 MVP will be presented the Ron Baum Trophy, named after the longtime East Kentwood head coach.
  • The Division 2 MVP will be presented the Mike Turner Trophy, named in honor of the longtime Trenton head coach.
  • The Division 3 MVP will be presented the Andy Weidenbach Trophy, named in honor the Cranbrook-Kingswood head coach who will be retiring at the end of this season.

Three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender will be named to each All-Tournament Team.

The 2019 state playoffs begin today; more info on that can be found here.
