On Feb. 23, there will be lots of hockey and skating at On The Dunes Sports Bar in Commerce Township – all in an effort to support the Jamie Daniels Foundation.

The Jamie Daniels Outdoor Hockey Classic – hosted by GLP & Associates, Inc., and Detroit Sports Media – will be raising money and awareness for the foundation built by Red Wings voice Ken Daniels in honor of his son.

The Jamie Daniels Foundation provides education, resources and guidance for people battling drug addiction “so that lives can be saved and healing can be created within families.”

The day-long event at the outdoor rink on the grounds of On The Dunes will be highlighted by a game between the Detroit Red Wings Alumni squad and representatives from GLP – a financial services company.

That’s not the only event, however; there will be open skating from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and open skating for Children’s Hospital families from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Two hour-long high school hockey games will take place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; those participants have yet to be announced.

Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. All of the proceeds from the event go to the Jamie Daniels Foundation.
