Red Wings announce details for annual Salvation Army bell ringing competition

By @MichaelCaples –

Every holiday season, members of the Detroit Red Wings man select Salvation Army red kettles on a mission to raise more money than their peers.

This year, four different teams of Wings representatives will bell ring at different Metro Detroit locations from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; fans are asked to make a $10 donation per autograph at all four locations.

Jeff Blashill and Ken Holland will be at the Kroger in Northville (17447 Haggerty Rd., Northville, MI 48168); Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm will be at Hockeytown Authentics in Troy; Michael Rasmussen and Dennis Cholowski will be at the Kroger in Dearborn (15255 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, MI 48126); and Mike Green and Luke Witkowski will be at the Kroger in Royal Oak (2200 East 12 Mile Rd., Royal Oak, MI 48067).

Last year, the Wings’ program raised $16,237, bringing their total to more than $150,000 since 2005.
