Recruiting: Vincent Salice commits to Vermont

By @MichaelCaples –

Vincent Salice has punched his ticket to Hockey East.

The Little Caesars ’03 birth-year forward announced his commitment to the University of Vermont just a few hours after his team won Silver Sticks in Port Huron.

“There are a few main reasons why I chose Vermont,” Salice told MiHockey. “The coaches were all very nice. They explained to me why they believe I would be a great fit to Vermont as a hockey player and as a student. The campus and all it surroundings are really nice. I enjoyed the hockey game atmosphere – it was loud, sold out and packed with excited fans. I really liked their fast style of hockey.”

The Commerce Township native said he’s excited to join a program that has an impressive alumni list.

“One of my all-time favorite hockey players ever, Marty St. Louis, was a Catamount,” Salice said. “I think that’s pretty cool. Also, the coaches showed me all the players that were Catamounts; John Leclair, Patrick Sharp, and Tim Thomas to name a few of them.”

He knows the hard work’s just beginning, since he hasn’t even reached midget hockey just yet.

“I’m very excited and looking forward to working hard everyday on and off the ice to prepare myself for my future with Vermont hockey. I want to especially thank my coaches and my mom and dad.”
