Two Michigan natives skating for the Ferris State Bulldogs have received accolades from the WCHA today.

Senior forward Mitch Maloney was named the conference’s offensive player of the week, while senior defenseman Tyler Dorantes was named the defensive player of the week.

Michigan Tech’s Patrick Munson was named the goaltender of the week by the WCHA, as well.

Maloney, a Macomb native, led the country with four goals and five points while helping his Bulldogs to a road split at Alabama Huntsville. He recorded a natural hat trick in FSU’s 6-2 win Friday night by scoring three goals in a 12-minute span in the third period.

Dorantes, meanwhile, racked up three assists from the blue line in the weekend series. He earned a ‘playmaker’ nod for recording three assists – all consecutively – in that lopsided 6-2 win mentioned above.

Munson, a native of Hugo, Minn., helped Tech to a road sweep of Alaska; he recorded 73 saves to lead the conference in that category.
