FARMINGTON HILLS – Logan Jenuwine helped lead Romeo to its first-ever state championship this season.

Now, he has earned the title of Mr. Hockey for the 2015-16 season.

Jenuwine was named the 2016 recipient of the Mr. Hockey award, presented by the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches’ Association to the most outstanding player in the state.

“It’s awesome,” Jenuwine said. “Had a great year, can’t take all the recognition, had great teammates, great linemates and great coaches, so just a great year and really happy to receive this.”

Jenuwine said be a part of the team that brought the first state title to Romeo was especially neat.

“It was awesome. The community really came out and supported us, which just made us more happy to win it for them and it was really exciting, everyone loved it and it was a great time.”

What’s next for Mr. Hockey?

“I obviously hope to keep playing hockey,” Jenuwine said. “If not, I’m going to Michigan State for a business degree, but I’ve got a couple skates coming up, so we’ll see.”

On the girls’ side, the title of Miss Hockey belongs to University Liggett this year.

Senior forward Allison Stapleton has been crowned 2016 Miss Hockey.

Stapleton, also a Division I all-state honorable mention in 2015, was unable to attend the banquet; her father received the award on her behalf.
