The St. Clair Shores Hockey Association named Mike Hamilton as the first ever director of hockey within the association.

Hamilton will be overseeing the on-ice instruction and skill development of the St. Clair Shores skaters, ensuring that the house and travel teams’ skaters have quality instruction and opportunities.

In a press release sent out by the association, president Paul Doppke said, “[Mike] will help in defining a vision for growth of Saints hockey. This is an important investment in our program that will help our kids and association achieve their goals.”

Doppke added that, with the addition of Hamilton, “we are bringing opportunities previously unavailable in St. Clair Shores into our program for the betterment of all our kids.”

Hamilton played his youth hockey for the Detroit GPD and Little Caesars AAA programs. In juniors, he spent time with the Lakeland Jets and Detroit Freeze in the NAHL before moving on to Minnesota State University in the NCAA. Hamilton’s coaching background includes 20 years at the AAA level, 15 of which were with the Honeybaked organization.
