Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist is one of the latest NHL players to get fined by the league for diving.

The NHL announced today that Nyquist was fined $2,000 for diving/embellishment after his second violation. Nyquist was first issued a warning following an incident at New Jersey on Nov. 28. His second ‘citation’ came on Dec. 29 in Boston. Chris Kelly originally received a tripping minor on the play, which you can see below.

NHL Rule 64, revised for the 2014-15 season, is designed to “bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties.” Fines are assessed on a graduated scale, which is below.

Former Plymouth Whalers and Saginaw Spirit star Vince Trocheck got billed for the same thing today, as well.
