Red Wings trade Mike Green to Edmonton for Kyle Brodziak, conditional pick

By @MichaelCaples –

Late Sunday night, the past two Detroit Red Wings general managers finalized a trade.

Mike Green will be joining Ken Holland in Edmonton.

The Wings sent the veteran defenseman to the Oilers, in exchange for forward Kyle Brodziak and a conditional draft pick in either 2020 or 2021.

In the deal, the Wings acquire the contract of Brodziak, as he retired in September because of a back injury.

The Wings retain half of Green’s $2.7 million contract.

The conditional draft pick turns into a third-round pick this year if the Oilers reach the conference finals and Green plays in half the games.
