The Bunch of Jerks have added a Macomb native.

Wednesday, the Carolina Hurricanes announced that they have signed Jacob Pritchard to a one-year, entry-level contract after his outstanding graduate transfer season with UMass in 2018-19.

After spending three seasons with St. Lawrence, the 24-year-old forward joined the Minutemen this past off-season and ended up posting 47 points in 41 games for a squad that went all the way to the NCAA title game.

He will be reporting to the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers for the remainder of the season on an amateur try-out agreement.

“Jacob had a very productive year playing for one of the top teams in college hockey at UMass,” said Carolina general manager Don Waddell. “He was highly effective on the power play this season and we’re excited to see what he can do at the professional level.”

A USHL Clark Cup champion with the Indiana Ice in 2013-14, Pritchard ended up playing for the BCHL’s Powell River Kings in 2014-15 before joining St. Lawrence.

He played for Little Caesars in his 14U and 16U seasons before joining Victory Honda 18U in 2012-13.
