Recruiting: Garrett Szydlowski commits to Western Michigan

Garrett Szydlowski will someday be a Bronco.

He said he wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Brighton native and Little Caesars 16U forward announced his commitment to Western Michigan tonight.

“I picked WMU for many great reasons,” he told MiHockey. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play for the Broncos…since I was a little kid. They’re always a powerhouse program and I wanted to be a part of a winning team. It’s also nice that it’s close to home.”

Szydlowski is a longtime member of Kris Draper’s Little Caesars ’02 team. They have won five MAHA state titles together, and are gearing up for a run at No. 6 in the coming weeks.

The newest member of the Broncos – he joins teammate Mark Estapa in the WMU commitment column on the LC roster – scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the MAHA 15-Only Tier 1 state championship game last March.

The LC also finished as national runner-up in the USA Hockey 15-Only National Championship in Plymouth.
