Recruiting: Oliver MacDonald commits to Nebraska Omaha

By @MichaelCaples –

Oliver MacDonald is a Lumberjack right now. Soon, he will be a Maverick.

The Grosse Pointe native announced tonight that he has committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

“I picked UNO because it has always been the school I’ve wanted to go to,” MacDonald told MiHockey. “I played a tournament there three years ago and fell in love with it right away.

“The coaches are great and I’m excited for the opportunity to play college hockey in one of the best conferences.”

MacDonald is in the midst of his first season with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks; he has one assist in three games. He was a ‘Jacks draft pick in 2017, and last year, he stayed on their affiliate list while competing for the New Jersey Junior Titans of the NAHL.

In 2016-17, he won a state and national title with the Compuware 16U team.
