Great Lakes Invitational, Red Wings vs. Panthers on New Year’s Eve at Little Caesars Arena

Judging from a release today from the University of Michigan, New Year’s Eve is going to be a busy day at Little Caesars Arena.

The second day of the Great Lakes Invitational will be falling on Dec. 31 – and there’s a Red Wings home game scheduled that day, too.

Talk about ending the 2018 calendar year with a bang at the heart of Hockeytown.

The UM release states that the Fox Sports Detroit will be broadcasting Day 2 of the two-day GLI, which features Michigan Tech, Michigan State and guest participant Lake Superior State this time around, on Dec. 31.

The GLI will be Dec. 30-31, based off schedules from the college hockey participants.

Last year, the GLI was played on Jan. 1-2 in the new LCA building.

Detroit hosts the Florida Panthers for their annual New Year’s Eve game that day; puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
