With the No. 33 overall pick – the second of the second round – Detroit claimed Jonatan Berggren, a winger from Sweden.

The native of Uppsala, Sweden was ranked No. 30 among European skaters by NHL Central Scouting after posting 57 points in 38 games with Skelleftea Jr.

Three picks later, at No. 36, the Wings claimed their first defenseman of the draft, picking Jared McIsaac of the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL).

McIsaac, a native of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, was ranked No. 13 among North American skaters; he checks in at 6-foot-1 and 189 pounds. He posted 47 points in 65 games this past season.
