Fargo Force win USHL’s Clark Cup

By @MichaelCaples –

The Fargo Force won a USHL championship Saturday night, and they did so with the help of some Michigan names-to-know.

Three Michigan natives patrol the blue line for the new Clark Cup champions – Grosse Ile native Xan Gurney, Livonia native Jonathan McDonald and Livonia native Evan Bell.

Gurney, a Western Michigan commit, is two-for-two on USHL championships after winning with the Chicago Steel last spring.

Meanwhile, some players eventually playing in the State of Michigan had big impacts on the Force’s title run. Griffin Loughran, a Northern Michigan commit, was named the Clark Cup Playoffs MVP after posting seven goals and three assists in 13 postseason contests.

Strauss Mann, a Michigan commit, led the way between the pipes for Fargo. The Connecticut native posted an 11-2-1 record with a 2.09 goals-against average and .932 save percentage en route to the title.

Congrats to all the Michigan names who won the USHL championship for the 2017-18 season:

Xan Gurney – Grosse Ile native, Western Michigan commit

Jonathan McDonald – Livonia native, Massachusetts-Lowell commit

Evan Bell – Livonia native, Penn State commit

Strauss Mann – Michigan commit

Garrett Van Wyhe – Michigan commit

Griffin Loughran – Northern Michigan commit
