Recruiting: Ryan Sullivan commits to UMass

By @MichaelCaples –

Ryan Sullivan is joining a militia.

The UMass Minutemen, to be more specific.

The Grosse Pointe native has verbally committed to the University of Massachusetts for his college hockey experience.

“I chose to be a Minuteman because I fell in love with everything about their hockey program and school,” Sullivan told MiHockey. “They are a team on the rise in one of the best conferences in the country and will be competing for championships in the years to come.”

Sullivan, a Honeybaked product, is currently playing for Selects Hockey Academy U18. He is a Des Moines Buccaneers draftee.

He said he was blown away by the UMass coaching staff and the hockey atmosphere in Amherst, Mass.

“The coaching staff consists of three of the best coaches in college hockey, and I believe I can be a good fit for them in the years to come,” Sullivan said. “The student body and fan base at the Mullins Center is amazing on a night to night basis, and is a crowd I can not wait to play in front of.

“I am extremely excited to play college hockey at the University of Massachusetts.”
