Recruiting: Nick Bowman commits to RPI

By @MichaelCaples –

Nick Bowman was one of the Michigan natives invited to the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament to help him audition for NCAA Division 1 hockey programs.

It worked.

The Shelby Township native has announced his commitment to RPI, just one week after skating close to home in the two-day showcase in Plymouth.

“Choosing RPI was an easy decision for me,” Bowman told MiHockey. “The combination of getting a top-notch education and playing at such a great historical program was hard to pass up.”

Bowman is in the midst of his second season with the Coulee Region Chill. He has recorded 22 goals and 43 total points in 45 games.

“College hockey has always been a dream of mine since I was a little kid and knowing that I’ll be suiting up in a college game in the near future is a surreal feeling,” Bowman said.

The former captain of Brother Rice also wanted to make sure he thanked his support system while celebrating his D1 commitment.

“I’d like to thank my family for supporting me these last two years of playing junior hockey as they’ve made numerous sacrifices to help me succeed on and off the ice.”
