Recruiting: Zane Demsey commits to Michigan State

By @MichaelCaples –

Zane Demsey will be playing college hockey just a few steps away from where his grandpa played college football.

The Honeybaked 16U defenseman has pledged his commitment to Michigan State – the same school his grandpa, Mike Marciniak, competed for on the gridiron in the 1960s.

“When I was invited to come visit Michigan State it felt very surreal,” Demsey told MiHockey. “Growing up with my grandpa playing football for MSU and even my brother attending school there, it made it a very humbling experience.”

The Harrison Township native and University Liggett high school alum said it was an easy choice to pick the Spartans.

“After the visit I could tell how great everything about the school was from the hockey program to education and even the campus. It felt like a place I could call home. I’m very excited to have the great opportunity of playing college hockey for such a great program.”
