Red Wings recall Dominic Turgeon from Grand Rapids following injuries in Pittsburgh

By @StefanKubus –

With Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm suffering injuries in Saturday afternoon’s loss in Pittsburgh, the Red Wings called for reinforcements after the game.

The team announced that Dominic Turgeon has been recalled from Grand Rapids. Turgeon, 21, has had an impressive second season in the AHL as arguably one of the Wings’ most improved prospects from a year ago.

Having posted nine goals and 23 points through 40 games, Turgeon has surpassed his totals of six goals and 18 points in 71 games last season.

A third-round pick in 2014, the Cherry Hills, Colo. native played for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks before being selected by Detroit.
