Recruiting: Roman Kinal commits to UConn

By @MichaelCaples –

When he’s done in Iowa, Roman Kinal will be on his way to Connecticut.

The Waterford native has announced his commitment to the UConn, becoming the first member of the Dubuque Fighting Saints to commit to that particular school.

“I’m extremely excited, and I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time,” Kinal said via the USHL. “It was the right fit for me. The staff was awesome, the campus was great, and I’m excited to join an up-and-coming team.”

In his first USHL season, Kinal has logged three assists and a +3 rating over 24 games. He was a seventh-round pick of the Saints in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft.

Last year, he suited up for the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the NAHL. Prior to that, he played for the Little Caesars 18U squad.
