Klimek, Beydoun named WCHA Players of the Week

A pair of Michigan names were among this past week’s WCHA Players of the Week awards.

Northern Michigan’s Jordan Klimek was named the league’s top defenseman for the week. Klimek, a senior from British Columbia, tied for the NCAA lead among blue-liners with four points and led defensemen with a pair of goals – his first two of the season – to help lift Northern Michigan to a WCHA sweep of Ferris State.

Between the pipes, Michigan Tech’s freshman netminder turned some heads this past weekend to earn Rookie of the Week honors.

Robbie Beydoun, a Plymouth native, picked up his first collegiate shutout in a 3-0 shutout of Lake Superior State on Friday. To follow it up, he stopped 22 shots and all three LSSU shootout attempts on Saturday in a 3-3 tie to earn his team the extra point in league standings.

Beydoun was second, with a 1.44 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage, among WCHA netminders that started both games this past weekend.
