Mitch Lewandowski’s got a hat trick’s worth of Big Ten weekly awards.

Today, it was announced that the Michigan State freshman forward was named the conference’s second star of the week.

It’s the third time the Clarkston native has received weekly honors from the B1G, and the college hockey season isn’t even two months in.

His latest honors come from leading the conference in goals (three) last weekend in a sweep of in-state rival Ferris State.

Lewandowski factored into all three goals in Friday night’s overtime win – two goals and an assist, including the decisive strike in the extra frame.

Then he scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal Saturday, too.

He leads all freshman skaters in college hockey in both goals and total points.
