For Sam Antenucci, the hockey path leads to Colorado Springs.

The Little Caesars 16U forward has verbally committed to Colorado College, he announced this week.

“I chose CC because of many reasons,” Antenucci told MiHockey. “The campus is amazing, the buildings and facilities I have the opportunity of using as a student are special. On campus you always have an amazing view of the mountains that surround the campus. Being on the campus was a completely different experience from home in Michigan that I’ve always wanted. This gave me the opportunity to experience new things in a new place.”

Antenucci is in the midst of his second season with the Caesars 16U club under head coach Brian Rolston; soon, he will be joining the Green Bay Gamblers. The USHL franchise selected him in the seventh round of the league’s Futures Draft last spring.

He said while he loves the scenery at CC, the real reason he’s heading to Avalanche country is for the coaching staff he will soon learn from.

“The main reason I choose CC though is because they have an incredible coaching staff,” Antenucci said. “Coach Haviland, Coach Hayward, and Coach Enga are three of the most genuine guys I’ve had the opportunity of meeting. Most importantly about the coaches is they are all in it for the right reasons to develop their players for the future and to hopefully win a championship.”
