When he’s done with juniors, John Larkin will be heading to the Buckeye State.

Larkin, a ’01 birth-year member of the Compuware 16U team, announced on Wednesday that he has committed to Ohio State.

“I picked the Buckeyes because when I went to visit, the coaching, facilities, and the university were all first class,” Larkin told MiHockey. “I think it will be a great fit for my style of play.”

The versatile Larkin has played both forward and defense; last season, he helped the Compuware 15U team reach the state championship game. Before that, he played for Honeybaked and Little Caesars.

He was selected by the Youngstown Phantoms in last spring’s USHL Futures Draft.

“I am excited to play college hockey because the play is faster, stronger, and a step away from the NHL,” Larkin said. “I also have the opportunity to study while playing the game I love.”
