Brennan Blaszczak has had to do his fare share of traveling for hockey, and that won’t change for college.

The Troy native has committed to the Alaska Nanooks for his college hockey career starting next fall.

“I’m excited to play for the Nanooks because it’s always been my dream to play at the D1 level,” Blaszczak told MiHockey.

After playing for Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, Blaszczak joined the Waterloo Siskins of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League for the 2014-15 season. For the last two seasons, he’s been playing for the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL.

He said he’s excited to take advantage of the open ice in Fairbanks.

“UAF was a good fit for me because my speed is my greatest asset and they have an Olympic size rink up there. They also have top notch facilities and an all-around great atmosphere and I can’t wait to head up there and get things rolling.”

This past season, Blaszczak posted 39 points in 58 games with the Jr. Blues.
