Michigan Tech defenseman Matt Roy is moving on to the next level.

The Canton native has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings, the NHL club that drafted him in the seventh round of the 2015 NHL Draft.

In 42 games this season, Roy, a junior blueliner for the Huskies, recorded 26 points, while leading his Michigan Tech club in assists with 21. For his work at both ends of the ice, he was named a First Team All-Star by the WCHA.

In 115 games over the course of his NHL career, he recorded 55 total points.
