The Michigan Wolverines have locked up another in-state standout from the 2002 birth-year class, as Jacob Truscott announced his commitment over the weekend.

Truscott, a Fort Gratiot native, is currently skating with the Little Caesars Bantam Major squad.

Why Michigan? Truscott told MiHockey that it starts with the school’s history when it comes to hockey.

“I picked Michigan because it is a great school with great history, and has produced some of the best players in the NHL,” he said. “Me being a Michigan Kid it has always been a dream to play for the University of Michigan.”

If he continues at his current pace, Truscott won’t be fazed by the bright lights of Yost Ice Arena. He’s been a member of Kris Draper’s Little Caesars team for a while now, which has meant multiple state titles, Silver Sticks titles and a second-place finish at the prestigious Quebec International Pee Wee Tournament a few years ago.

“College hockey has been my dream and goal for a while now and I’m really excited to be able to pursue my dreams,” Truscott said. “I’m so excited to play college hockey and even more excited to start this journey at the University of Michigan where I was born and raised.”
