Yesterday, MiHockey posted the news about Cam Knuble committing to Michigan State.

Today, it’s news about one of his teammates making the same pledge to the Spartans.

Brad Marek, a forward on the Fox Motors 16U team, has committed to MSU. He announced the news Wednesday on his Twitter account, and told MiHockey shortly after that it’s all about joining a historic program close to home.

“I picked MSU because of all the history,” Marek said, “And coach [Tom] Anastos was great – I know where he wants to take the program and that’s nowhere but up.”

The Big Rapids native is a product of the Fox Motors/Michigan Nationals program. He was drafted by the Bloomington Thunder in last spring’s USHL Futures Draft, and played in two games with the club this season.

This season, he has played at a point-per-game pace for Fox Motors, racking up 27 points in 27 games.

Marek said he’s thrilled to commit to the school he’s always dreamed of playing for.

“It’s just been my dream school since I was a little kid,” Marek said, “pretending to play for them on the pond or whatever.”
