Brenden Stanko is celebrating his birthday today, and the NAHL is helping make it a bit more exciting.

The junior league announced that Stanko – who turns 18 today – is the Central Division Star of the Week.

Happy birthday, Brenden.

The Brookings Blizzard forward and Howell native racked up seven points in three wins this past week.

“Brenden has played the game the right way all year, which has included finishing checks, working hard and being a good teammate,” said Brookings head coach Dan Daikawa. “It’s great to see him getting rewarded because of it. He has also found some chemistry with Nicholas Cardelli and Brandon Kruse. Their line was the difference this past weekend.”

Stanko had the game-winning goal and two assists in a 5-2 win on Friday, then two goals and an assists on Saturday.

He rounded out the weekend with another game-winning goal on Sunday in a 7-2 home victory.

In 34 games played this season, Stanko – a Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Belle Tire alum – has 26 points as an NAHL rookie.
