NHL All-Star Game rosters announced

The National Hockey League announced its rosters for the upcoming 2017 NHL All-Star Game, which will take place in Los Angeles later this month.

Invited players will be skating in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday, Jan. 28, and then in the three-on-three NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 29 – all at the Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Kings.

Representing the Detroit Red Wings will be forward Frans Nielsen; the free-agent acquisition has eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 40 games during his first season in a Winged Wheel uniform.

Michigan natives Cam Fowler (Farmington) and Ryan Kesler (Livonia) – both members of the Anaheim Ducks and products of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program – are also invited.

Kesler, 32, has 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 42 games with Anaheim this season.

Fowler, 25, has nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 42 games, as well.

  • NTDP alum Auston Matthews (Toronto)

  • Michigan State alum Duncan Keith
