According to a report by the Detroit News, it appears the Red Wings will officially have some company inside Little Caesars Arena next season.

The NBA’s Detroit Pistons are expected to announce a move from Auburn Hills to downtown Detroit for the 2017-18 season tomorrow at 3 p.m., per the Detroit News article. The news comes as a result of ongoing talks between Pistons owner Tom Gores and Olympia Entertainment. With the move, all of Detroit’s four major professional sports teams will be positioned in downtown Detroit.

Little Caesars Arena joins a number of professional sports arenas around the country who already feature NHL and NBA teams, such as the TD Garden in Boston (Bruins and Celtics) and Staples Center in Los Angeles (Kings, Lakers and Clippers).

With a deal in place now rather than next season, there’s time for the Pistons to have their locker room and other amenities completed with the rest of the arena.

Gores’ Palace Sports & Entertainment includes the Palace of Auburn Hills, DTE Energy Music Theatre and the rights to operate Meadow Brook Ampitheater.

On Oct. 24, Crain’s reported that Oakland County had rejected a deal from Gores’ staff that would have had the county pay $180 million for the Palace in return for $60 million in lease payments by the Pistons over a 25-year span.

Many professional sports franchises share facilities – the Staples Center in Los Angeles even holds two NBA teams (the Lakers and the Clippers) along with the NHL’s Kings.
