One Michigan native and one Michigan resident appear on this week’s WCHA players of the week list.

Brighton native Kurt Gosselin, a sophomore defenseman at Alabama Huntsville, was named the conference’s defensive player of the week, while Ferris State netminder Justin Kapelmaster was named the WCHA’s top rookie.

Gosselin, an alum of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL, led all WCHA d-men with two goals over the weekend, and tied for first with three total points. He played a crucial role in UAH’s weekend road sweep at Alaska Anchorage.

Meanwhile, Kapelmaster backstopped Ferris State to a 3-1 win on Saturday night, helping the Bulldogs to a series split at Bowling Green. A native of Coral Springs, Fla., Kapelmaster stopped 26 of the 27 shots sent his way.
