Oak Park native Joshua Nodler won’t have to travel too far for his college hockey career when the time comes.

The 2001 birth-year forward has given a verbal commitment to Michigan State, setting himself up for one of the next steps in his hockey career.

“First off, I am extremely honored and grateful to have made a commitment to play hockey at MSU,”Nodler told MiHockey.

Nodler has spent the last two seasons with the Honeybaked AAA organization, competing for HB’s Bantam Major club last season. He was one of Michigan’s representatives at the USA Hockey 15 Development Camp this summer.

He said committing to MSU brings his lifelong goal of playing D1 college hockey that much closer.

“Since a young age, a major goal of mine has been to one day be able to compete and play hockey at the college level,” Nodler said. “To be able to play the game I love and earn a top quality education at the same time is something truly special to me. Making the decision to play hockey at MSU is extremely exciting.

“There are many reasons as to why I chose MSU – such as the beautiful campus, the outstanding coaching staff, the amazing facilities, and the long and storied history the MSU hockey program has. Additionally, being born and raised in Michigan, the opportunity to play in front of family and friends was appealing to me as well.”
