The Flint Firebirds have released the dates for the club’s 2016-17 home opener, as well as some details about preseason games.

On Sept. 21, the Firebirds will welcome in-state rival Saginaw to the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint for a 7 p.m. puck drop that will kick off the 2016-17 OHL season.

It will be the first of four Flint visits for the Spirit; the Firebirds won the inaugural I-75 Divide Cup last season.

Meanwhile, the Spirit will have their home opener on Sept. 24 against the Guelph Storm.

The Firebirds will also host two Friday night preseason games in Flint. On Sept. 2, they will welcome the Windsor Spitfires to the Dort; on Sept. 9, it will be Saginaw coming through for an early rivalry preview.

Tickets for the preseason games will be complimentary for season ticket holders, and $10 for all other fans.

Training camp for the Firebirds begins on Aug. 29 in Flint.
