The National Women’s Hockey League held its second annual draft over the weekend.

Farmington Hills native Andie Anastos was taken seventh overall by the Connecticut Whale. She was a captain at Boston College this past season as a junior forward. It was announced in April she would become just the sixth player in Boston College women’s hockey history to be a two-year captain, as she will serve as the Eagles’ lone captain in 2016-17.

The BC women played to a 40-1-0 record last season, and Anastos enters her senior campaign ranking 12th on the Eagles’ career scoring list with 102 points in 117 games.

Melissa Channell, a Little Caesars alum and University of Wisconsin defenseman, was also chosen in the draft four spots later at No. 11 overall, joining Anastos with Connecticut.
